Pure Puerto Rican
imported bay mare Star , in her heyday, ran a close second to Bonita in
producing top quality show horses, including the regional Champion and
High Point mare, Fortunata del Reino, also the 1992 National
High Point Endurance Horse, most definitely a horse fulfilling
everything I wanted to produce in my breeding program.
Her
dam, Gentile de Ponce, whom I also owned until her death at age 32 a few
years ago, produced National and Res Nat Champions from Fino to Western
Pleasure, and was a Toledo
daughter, hence having the Pincel/Volare hocks. Star's sire, Arrakis,
while never in the
US, had several early important get here in the
US, such as El Tigre, and represents some of the purest Guamani blood.
A
horse with outstanding gait and disposition, Star had an incredible
largo she imparted to her foals. Even in her last year at age 33, when
most people were shocked to find out when they saw her, we assume she
imparts her longevity as a using horse as well, she was still my best
"jump mare" for AI, raised orphan foals, and babysat whoever
needed it. She has produced the ideal, 'all-American' horse, for
sure. Big, beautiful, super gaited, versatile, and loving. A
tribute to she, and her great Puerto Rican lineage.
